The Pure Pit Wall heads to Hungary, Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1™ Team takes victory

The race for the Championship title is gathering pace! The Pure Pit Wall was working overtime during this year’s Hungarian Grand Prix as 21 of the 22 drivers crossed the finish line to reach the chequered flag.

The Pure Pit Wall predicted Lewis Hamilton’s win and Nico Rosberg’s 2nd place finish, which completed the third 1-2 finish for the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team this season. It also kept up-to-speed with the multiple pit stops and overtakes that added to a thrilling race.

The Grand Prix was full of eventful moments as there were a total of 34 overtakes, with 11 happening under DRS. The most significant was at the start of the race as MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team driver Lewis Hamilton passed Nico Rosberg for the lead of the race. Lewis maintained his momentum and went on to win his 5th ever Hungarian Grand Prix and he is now the most successful driver in the race’s history. The win was also his 5th this season and saw Lewis also take his 48th career victory.

Both MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team drivers started the race on the Super Soft compound tyres, then both switched to a set of Soft tyres, and completed their final pit stop for another set of Soft compound tyres that took them through to the end of the race. Congratulations to the pit crew for a second consecutive fastest pit stop! Similar to 2015, a 2-stop strategy was the winning formula, driving the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team to their third 1-2 win of the season. Great job everyone!

Heading towards the Silver Arrows’ home race, the German Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton is now leading the Drivers’ Championship standings with 192 points, 6 points clear of his teammate Nico Rosberg. The MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team (378) lead Ferrari (224) by 154 points in the Constructors’ Championship.
