What a start to the 2017 F1™ season!

What a start to the 2017 F1™ season! By Lap 20, the Pure Pit Wall had already correctly predicted the podium finishers at Albert Park during the Australian Grand Prix (VET, HAM, BOT).

The MERCEDES-AMG PETRONAS Motorsport Formula One™ Team started the season with a great double podium finish as Lewis Hamilton crossed the line in P2 and team newcomer Valtteri Bottas finished the race close behind in P3.

At lights out, both drivers had a great start with Lewis leading the pack before the first pit stop. He was unlucky to be stuck in traffic as he came out of the pits which meant that he lost P1.

The winning strategy during this year’s race was a one-stop with both MERCEDES-AMG PETRONAS Motorsport drivers completing a pit-stop each. They started the race on Ultrasoft tyres and then changed to Soft tyres for the final stint of the 57 lap race.

There were a total of 14 overtakes (3 with DRS) while no safety car was needed this year contrary to last year, when it was deployed.
With this result, Lewis Hamilton (18) is 2nd in the Championship and Valtteri Bottas (15) in 3rd. The MERCEDES-AMG PETRONAS Motorsport Formula One™ Team (33) trails just 4 points behind Scuderia Ferrari (37) after the Australian Grand Prix.
