Valtteri Bottas claims his first ever Formula One™ victory

What a great win at the Russian Grand Prix! The Pure Pit Wall was on top form as it predicted the podium finishers (BOT, VET, RAI) after 52 laps of racing.

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport driver Valtteri Bottas had a superb start from P3 to overtake the Ferrari cars and find himself leading the race by the second corner. The Finn and team managed the race perfectly and as a result he crossed the finish line in P1 to claim his first ever Formula One™ victory. Well deserved Valtteri!

The race winner started on Ultra Soft tyres and completed his only pit stop on Lap 28 for a set of Super Softs. His stop strategy meant that he maintained the lead even after pitting. He also recorded the Fastest Pit Lane time with a 29.3s stop. Good job team!

Lewis, who started in P4, maintained his pace throughout the race and managed to finish in the same position he started in, and secure valuable points for the team in the championship.

There were a total of 18 overtakes during this year’s Russian Grand Prix, and for the third year running, the safety car was deployed right after the start of the race up until Lap 3.

The standings after the Russian Grand Prix see Lewis (73) 2nd in the Drivers’ Championship behind Sebastian Vettel (86) while race winner Valtteri (63) is in P3.

In the Constructors’ Championship, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport (136) now lead ahead of Ferrari (135) by just one point.
