Valtteri Bottas wins the Austrian Grand Prix!

What a great win for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport and Valtteri Bottas in Austria. The Pure Pit Wall correctly predicted the podium finishers (BOT, VET, RIC) despite the battles in the final stages of the race for the top three positions.

Valtteri started the race in Spielberg on pole position and led most of the laps to cross the finish line in P1. It was a superb weekend for the Finn who dominated both qualifying and the race.

Lewis had a good race following the five grid penalty he received on Saturday which meant he had to start in P8 on the grid. He climbed through the field to secure P4 and got very close to the podium steps in the final laps of the race.

There were a total of 51 overtakes during this year’s Austrian Grand Prix (5 with DRS) which included one for the lead.

Valtteri completed one pit stop on Lap 42 to change from a set of Ultrasoft tyres to the Supersoft compound tyres.

The Fastest Lap of 1:07.424 was set by Lewis on Lap 65 while he also clocked the Fastest Pit Lane Time of 20.7s. Superb effort team!

As it stands after the Austrian Grand Prix, Lewis (151) is 20 points behind Sebastian Vettel (171), while Valtteri’s win means that he is now only 35 points off the top of the table in P3 (136).

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport (287) have extended their lead in the Constructors’ Championship to 33 points ahead of Ferrari (254).
