Lewis Hamilton wins the Belgian Grand Prix!
What a top comeback from the summer break for the team and Lewis Hamilton in Spa-Francorchamps. The Pure Pit Wall correctly predicted the podium finishers (HAM, VET, RIC).
The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport drivers started from P1 and P3 on the grid, with both maintaining their positions for most of the 44 lap race.
Lewis had a great race and was hardly ever challenged for the lead. He started the race on Ultrasoft tyres until Lap 12 and he then changed for a set of Soft tyres. On Lap 31, Lewis went into the pits again to change for another set of Softs.
The Safety Car was deployed between Laps 30 and 33 due to a collision and debris on the track.
As the safety car went back in the pits, Valtteri was unlucky to lose two positions at the restart, and ended the race in P5. Lewis crossed the line in P1 to secure his 58th career win and 3rd at Spa on his 200th Grand Prix weekend.
The Brit also recorded the Fastest Pit Lane Time with a 22s stop. Good job team!
With this win, Lewis (213) is just 7 points behind Sebastian Vettel (220) in the Drivers’ Championship. Valtteri’s P5 in Spa has kept him just behind in 3rd (179).
Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport (392) have increased their lead at the top to 44 points ahead of Ferrari (348) in the Constructors’ Championship.
