P2 for Bottas in Brazil!

What a thrilling Brazilian Grand Prix! Pure Pit Wall was working hard in the São Paulo heat (32℃ air, 60℃ track) and correctly predicted the podium finishers (VET, BOT, RAI).

Valtteri Bottas started from Pole but Vettel was able to sneak up the inside into Turn One taking the lead.

There was a collision on Lap 1 so the Safety Car was deployed from Lap 1-5, the only time it appeared in the race.

Hamilton had to start from the pit lane due to an accident in qualifying, but got off to a flying first few laps, jumping into the Top 10 by Lap 9!

Bottas made his pit stop to switch from the Supersoft to the Soft tyre on Lap 27, rejoining the race in P5. Hamilton opted for a longer tyre strategy, starting on the Soft rubber and switching to Supersoft on Lap 43. This strategy incredibly gave Hamilton the lead on Lap 32 as both the Ferrari’s ahead pitted.

Eventually, Hamilton was forced to pit due to heavy tyre degradation in the heat. Rejoining the race in P5 with the fast Supersoft tyres on, the podium was in his sight.

Although it was very close in the final laps, Hamilton was only able to manage P4 in the end (an incredible effort from the pit lane) and Valtteri Bottas stayed strong to take P2.

Lewis (345 points) who has already sealed the Drivers’ Championship leads by 43 points from Vettel (302 points) in P2 and Valtteri (280 points) is still strong in P3.

With one race to go, Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport (625 points) lead Ferrari (495 points) by 130 points in the Constructors’ Championship
