Race Notes

Perfect end to a perfect season for Mercedes in Abu Dhabi!

It was a super-dominant Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport with Valtteri Bottas taking his third career win after starting from Pole and Lewis Hamilton rounded off the perfect season with a P2 finish for the team!

Both drivers got away cleanly off the line and pulled an early lead from the pack with Valtteri maintaining his lead and Lewis in P2.

Valtteri and Lewis both started on the Ultrasoft tyre with Valtteri coming in to switch for the Supersoft on Lap 21, giving Lewis the lead for three laps until he came in on Lap 24 for a set of Supersofts too.

Lewis kept the pressure on Valtteri throughout the 55-lap race, closing the gap to under 1 second around Lap 28.

The chase went on until the final laps of the race, but Valtteri was consistently the fastest driver of the race setting the Fastest Lap with a 1:40.650 and he went on to take the win!

There were a total of 20 overtakes, 6 with DRS, during the F1 finale and the Safety Car did not appear again this year as it was a clean race with no huge collisions.

The season draws to a close with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport as the four-time Constructors’ Champions with 668 points, 146 points clear of Ferrari in second place. Lewis Hamilton is the Drivers’ World Champion with 363 points and Valtteri Bottas takes P3 with 305 points.
